Night Bazaar features Bangladeshi vendors
Tahmeda Choudhoury and her mother, owners of Deshi Delite, took part in Hamtramck’s first Night Bazaar. The outdoor bazaar featured treats and eats from small businesses in Pope Park on Jos. Campau following the citywide Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival.
They were selling fuchka, chot potti, chicken puff pastry, chicken samosas, mishtis and Bangladeshi chai. Choudhoury says they were also selling pumpkin pie and pumpkin muffins as well.
“I thought it was a good experience, especially being in Hamtramck and being a desi business owner, I feel like we had to show up for the community,” she says.
She says the bazaar is a nice opportunity to meet customers in person.
“Whatever you guys want, we can make if this Bangladeshi basically,” she says.
The home-based business has been in operation for about a year. The mother-daughter duo makes everything from wedding taals to Bangladeshi chicken roast for special occasions.
