New halal fast casual restaurant opens in Detroit
If you’re looking for places to eat, pick up iftar boxes or try new cuisines in Metro Detroit, Charminar Biryani Express just opened a new restaurant on West Warren.
Owner Kay Ahmed told me for Eater Detroit that he’s always wanted to open a halal restaurant in midtown to serve students and hospital workers at the nearby Detroit Medical Center and Henry Ford Health Systems.
“We’ll have a lot of students and employees and workers from all the other different organizations around here come in and they want to be able to come in and get out… but we’ll also have our full a la carte menu,” he says.
During the month of Ramadan, the restaurant will offer $9.99 iftar boxes. The Troy location, Charminar Biryani House, is offering a $15.99/per person iftar buffet.

Along with Charminar Biryani House, several Metro Detroit restaurants are extended hours and offering Ramadan foods.
