Forbes names Bangladeshi on its list of 30 under 30
Anayat Chowdhury is the cofounder of ArgoPrep in New York. He started the company in 2015 to help students and educators access educational videos, quizzes, and printable worksheets for STEM and social studies materials. Chowdhury is the son of Bangladeshi immigrants. He started his company with only $60. It has now grown to a network of over a million users — placing him on Forbes’s list of 30 under 30. Along with this company, 29-year-old Chowdhury is an entrepreneur who opened multiple technology and education startups.
Detroit Documenters ride DDOT to understand transportation concerns
Outlier Media is taking a year-long initiative to look into long-term transportation concerns this year. Part of this project entailed having Detroit Documenters ride the bus. Documenters are people who take notes or live-tweet public meetings in Detroit and get paid for it. WDET podcast intern Jack Filbrandt, who is also a Documenter, says safety, bus shelters, and buses not showing up on time are still a concern for Detroiters.
Wayne State Med Students research maternal health during COVID-19
Ala Addin Sid Ahmed and Maheen Irshad studied maternal health during the pandemic. They found that over 20 percent of women who gave birth in the first two years of the pandemic had post-partum depression.
They applied the 10-item Edinburgh Post-Partum Depression Scale for 203 women who voluntarily filled out the questionnaire. The study shed light on some risk factors that can lead to postpartum depression such as substance abuse, obesity, previous mental health illness, or preterm birth.
