Eid Mubarak ๐๐
Eid with the looming โMuslim banโ
This week, Trump announced a revised version of the Muslim ban, which prevents individuals from 12 countries from entering the U.S. Those with a valid visa or permanent U.S. residency are encouraged to return to the U.S. by June 9th, when the ban takes effect.
Weโve been here before as a nation, grappling with a widespread immigration haul, family separation, and ongoing delays to citizenship for those who are in the process of obtaining a legal status.
And yet as the American Muslim community, we are observing Eid in the backdrop of many wars around the world, families being separated, and people โcelebrating Eidโ in grief with so much loss. Despite that, many of us have a roof over our head, have family to celebrate with, and have some sort of security to lean on. We have much to be grateful for.
In the Islamic tradition, Prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him put his complete trust in Allah to sort out his matters. We too remain steadfast on the path of justice and firm belief that things will fall into place, in His perfect timing and space.
Letโs remember each other in our prayers.
With peace,
Nargis
