Dearborn cafe hosts 'Cultural Day'
Qahwah House hosts second annual Cultural Day
The Yemeni cafe shop Qahwah House is hosting a Cultural Day to showcase food, coffee and music. It’s the second time the cafe is hosting this event. Founder Ibrahim Alhasbani says the coffee shops are a place for people to come together and learn about Yemeni culture and heritage. It’s part of a growing number of cafes which educate people about the coffee irrigation process, beginning with farms in the country, to organic coffee here in the U.S.
Dearborn’s Department of Public Health focuses on environmental health
Ali Abazeed is the new Director of Public Health for the city of Dearborn. He says the city is moving to a 2.0 and 3.0 public health model to bring all city services on parr with public health - including improving the environment for the city.
“Our Parks and Recreation, our Public Works, our water and sewage, our economic development teams, our transportation teams — all of these teams within our local government are thinking with a health lens,” he says.
Abazeed says he hopes Dearborn becomes a model for cities to use around the U.S.
