Bangladeshi man passes away in a car crash on I-696
Muhammed Sadek of Troy died in a car crash Wednesday morning. WDIV News reports the 40-year-old Bangladeshi man attempted to pass a semi-truck in a construction zone, instead crashing into it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Michigan State Police temporarily shut down westbound lanes of I-696 near I-275 in Farmington Hills following the crash.
Bangladeshi community members created this LaunchGood campaign to support his family.
According to Sadek’s LinkedIn profile, he was an education consultant for the Michigan Department of Education. He previously worked as a math teacher in Dearborn Public Schools, Westwood Community School District, and Global Education Excellence at Frontier International Academy.
Community members remember Sadek as someone who cared about his community and mentored youth.
Sadek’s funeral prayer was held yesterday at Masjid Al-Falah in Detroit. The burial was today at the White Chapel Cemetary in Troy.
Sadek leaves behind his wife, and his 7-year-old and 2-year-old sons.
