Saa Nasta,12th edition
In this edition of Saa Nasta, we’re talking about Bangladeshi women, the long-term implications of having mobile consular services by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Hamtramck and providing information on where older Bangladeshis can get the COVID-19 vaccine.

From the headlines:
Bangladeshis want a permanent consulate office in Michigan:
Community leaders invited the Embassy of Bangladesh to set up a mobile consular service Feb. 26-March 2 to serve more than 1,800 people who needed travel documentation, visa renewals and, the No Visa Required (NVR) stamp which would allow unrestricted travel with a valid passport to Bangladesh.
The Embassy visit prompts the ongoing question of whether a permanent consulate office will be opened in the near future in Michigan for the third-largest Bangladeshi population in the United States.

Bangaldeshi Woman Entrepreneuer: Shamsun Nehar
Shamsun Nehar says moving to the United States with her family in 2001 was a cultural shock.
“Now Nehar is a senior software engineer for the engineering company Continental Automotive, where she designs software that’s used in Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) for automakers worldwide. But in 2014, she founded “Cakes by Lucky,” as a creative outlet to destress from her job.
Over the years, the business became a way to pay homage to her heritage and culture.”

‘Difference Maker’ Maryam Nour
Maryam Nour has always been a shy but curious person, say her former teachers for an interview in the Yemeni American News. While going to school Nour was involved in extracurricular activities and drawn to helping others.
Then she took a leap of faith to pursue a college education at the University of Michigan- Dearborn, with a little push from then high school counselor Kristen Hurt.
Now Nour says she wants to inspire other girls to pursue their dreams.
“I took a leap of faith and it made me more brave and more determined to continue pursuing the unimaginable,” Nour says in a video for University of Michigan Difference Makers.
