Bangladeshi Food Festival comes to Warren
Halal Coney Island opens in Detroit
Bangladeshi owners Reeti Choudhury and her brother-in-law Syeed Choudhury opened Coney Star Halal off the corner of Davison and Conant Ave in Detroit. The new restaurant offers halal Coney dogs, corn beef, egg rolls, and other food, reports WDET’s Laura Herberg. The restaurant is one of the newest businesses near Hamtramck offering halal food options.
Bangladeshi Food Festival Offers Taste of Cuisine
The ADDA Music Café and Restaurant opened its doors in Warren this summer. Now they’re hosting a Bangladeshi Food Festival Friday-Saturday to share unique foods.
Co-owner Rossi Mir says the festival is a way to introduce Bangladeshi cuisine to people who are not familiar with it, while sharing food with the next generation of Bangladeshis.
“We are trying to for the next generation kids… so they can understand like what kind of food we serve in our country,” says Mir.
Hasan Khan, co-owner of the restaurant, says the festival will feature special Bangladeshi cuisine.
“Since we have Bangladeshi cuisine, we wanted to give them a treat of Bangladeshi food,” says Khan.
The restaurant will feature savory and sweet foods like bhortas, mashed veggies with spices, pitas made of rice flour and other ingredients, and other foods.
The Bangladeshi Food Festival is Friday-Saturday from 2-10 p.m. at the ADDA Music Café and Restaurant on 9 Mile and Ryan Rd. in Warren.
