It’s a new week of Saa Nasta and back-to-school is getting closer (or started for some of you!) This week find out what parents are planning to do once returning to school, and upcoming community happenings!
What are some things you’ll be doing once kids head back to school?
I interviewed a few moms who are considering their options when the kids return to school. While some said they were eager to get their kids back into classrooms, some are not ready for what the new school year may bring.

Women’s Empowerment Group
Detroit Friendship House is offering ESL and citizenship classes with Bangla translation services. They will be offering a new class starting in September.

Redistricting Meeting
A redistricting meeting will be held in Hamtramck on August 30 at the Gates of Columbus Banquet Hall. Redistricting is a process to redraw the electoral district boundaries to assign representatives in those districts.

Working Moms Project
Rising Voices is looking for moms to participate in the Working Moms research project to understand how COVID-19 affects working Asian American moms in Michigan to “explore what immediate support and long-term policy changes would help them recover from the pandemic.”
They are looking for moms to share their personal stories, in English, Chinese, Hmong, or Bangla.
